Charity & Community
At Prestons Kitchens, we believe in giving something back to the communities we operate in. As a family business, we are keen to spread our values of support and togetherness beyond the walls of our showrooms. Working with some remarkable charities, community initiatives and good causes in our local area, together we are achieving great things.
Samantha Sykes Foundation
Prestons are proud, and humbled, to play just a small part in the support of the Samantha Sykes Foundation. Below are a few words from the Samantha Sykes Foundation that sum them up far more eloquently than we ever could. In fact, if you have a moment, take a look at their website www.samanthasykesfoundation.com If nothing else it will serve as a reminder as to how fortunate the rest of us really are, and it might just inspire you to help, just a little, to improve the fortunes of one or two more.
Inspired by the legacy of Samantha Sykes, whose tragic story and compassionate work continue to drive our mission, this organisation is dedicated to protecting and empowering vulnerable young people. We focus on supporting those affected by child sexual exploitation, offering guidance and resources to help them recover and thrive. Recognising the challenges faced by Care Leavers — only 6% of whom advance to further or higher education— we strive to improve their opportunities and outcomes. Through targeted funding, we help young individuals rebuild their lives and move forward with hope and resilience.
Friends of Bradley Park
Virtually on our doorstep, this was a very easy one for us to agree to get involved with. Several of us here at Prestons are mothers, fathers and even grandparents, so we have all stood on the touchline and watched our children or grandchildren kick or throw a ball around a wet and muddy pitch in the middle of November and not given it a seconds thought, but somebody had to get there early to pick up whatever the local dogs and teenagers had left behind, put up the nets and flags and even paint the white lines. They then don their coaches or referees kits and coach or supervise the match, at the end of which they collect the dirty kits to get them washed and take down the nets and flags all without complaint, thanks or payment.
So we are proud to support the local unsung heroes that keep Bradley Park Community Centre going.
Match 4 Heroes
Match 4 Heroes honours our fallen soldiers and raises vital funds to help local war veterans in times of need. As part of our ongoing relationship, we were delighted to sponsor the 2025 charity football fundraising event which at the Golcar Ground, Huddersfield in July. More than just football, Match 4 Heroes is a tribute to two fallen soldiers, Sergeant Gareth Thursby and Private Thomas Wroe, who both served in the 3rd Battalion of The Yorkshire Regiment and tragically lost their lives together in Afghanistan in 2012. We are proud to support Match 4 Heroes as it continues Sergent Thursby and Private Wroe’s legacies.
Myerscough Junior Football Development Club
We proudly sponsored the Myerscough Junior Football Development Club (MJFDC). MJFDC was started in 2003 and offers football training for boys and girls from Under 6 teams to Under 14s. The club now has 34 teams playing across five different leagues across the northwest of England. The club has also produced more than 60 academy players over the years and won the LFA Female Football Development Programme Award in 2020. We are proud to have Prestons on their shirts and to have played a role in helping this club to grow and supporting more young people to engage with the sport they love.
